Congratulations on making it to the background phase of your recruitment process. Your background investigation will begin as soon as you complete your Personal History Statement (PHS) and sign all the necessary waivers. Most comprehensive public trust background investigations take under two weeks to complete.

Once you complete and upload your paperwork, you will be prompted to schedule an interview with your background investigator. This interview will last about 30 minutes over Zoom.

During this time, you and your background investigator will get to know each other and review your entire PHS page by page. It is important that your PHS be completed thoroughly before you upload it into the portal.

The background investigation will include credit and criminal history checks, records checks to verify citizenship/work eligibility, verification of date of birth, education, employment history, and military history.  We will interview individuals who know you and with whom you associated with in the past. Your residence will be confirmed, neighbors will be contacted, and public records queried for information about bankruptcies, divorces, and criminal or civil litigation. We will also examine past employment history files, interview past and present co-workers and supervisors and evaluate personal characteristics to determine suitability for this position.

Confidentiality is of the upmost importance throughout this process. We want you to be assured that information shared, and information obtained, during this background investigation will be restricted to the background investigator and the assigned personnel within the recruitment process at the Village of Caledonia.

 

Your background investigator will be a law enforcement background investigator with ProFirst Training and Consulting, LLC with at least two decades of experience conducting pre-employment background investigations.
